Booking protection
How booking protection works
Land-only, and what that means for protection
Every Rooetd trip is sold land-only. We don't sell UK to India flights, and customers book those separately, directly with an airline or travel agent of their choice. Because Rooetd doesn't sell flight-inclusive packages, our understanding is that ATOL (Air Travel Organiser's Licensing) protection, which specifically covers flight-inclusive package holidays, does not apply to what we sell.
The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018
A land-only trip that bundles accommodation, internal transport and guided activities together for a single price is very likely still a "package" under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, independent of ATOL. These regulations require, among other things, clear pre-contract information, defined liability if something in the package goes wrong, and insolvency protection for money customers have paid in advance. That last part is the most relevant one here.
We intend to hold appropriate insolvency protection for advance payments under a recognised scheme once this is confirmed with a qualified adviser. The specific scheme and the exact protection in place will be named here, on this page, once that review is complete. We're not going to describe a scheme we haven't actually put in place.
Questions before booking
If financial protection is a deciding factor for you before sending a deposit, ask us directly via theinquiry form. We'd rather answer plainly than have this page get ahead of what's actually confirmed.
