Booking Conditions
Rooetd: operated by Mauj Lo Roj Lo Ltd. Company number 17395929. Registered office: 28 Delph Mount, Leeds, United Kingdom, LS6 2HS. Last updated 17 August 2026 · Effective from 17 August 2026.
These Booking Conditions apply to trips booked with Rooetd.
They are written in plain English because we would rather you understand what you are buying than make you decode legal language.
In short: you choose your trip, we organise the land arrangements in India, you pay an advance to secure it, and we take responsibility for putting the package together and delivering it as described. These conditions explain what happens if you need to change or cancel, if we need to change something, or if something goes wrong.
A quick note on two words you will see more than once below. Seva is the tradition of service given without expecting something in return. Jugaad is resourceful, honest problem-solving when the original plan stops working. They describe the spirit behind the specific commitments in this document, not extra promises stacked on top of them. Where we say we will do something, that is what is binding. The rest is why.
Where these terms apply today: these are the approved Booking Conditions that will govern a Rooetd package booking once customer payments are enabled. Rooetd is currently operating on an enquiries-only basis; we do not take deposits or other customer payments today (see section 25, and How Your Booking Is Protected). The terms below describe what applies once a booking is confirmed and paid for.
The quick version
- Your contract is with Rooetd, not with each hotel, driver or guide individually. One point of contact, one party responsible for the whole trip.
- We sell land-only packages: accommodation, transport, guides and listed meals. Flights, visas, insurance and vaccinations are yours to arrange.
- A 25% advance secures your booking. The balance is due 56 days before departure for individual and small-group trips, or 84 days for larger family and group bookings.
- Cancellation charges rise the closer you get to departure, because that is when our own commitments to our partners become fixed and unrecoverable. See section 8 for the real numbers, and for your right to cancel free of charge, with a full refund, where unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at your destination (or its immediate vicinity) significantly affect the performance of your package or the carriage of passengers to your destination.
- If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at three times your trip price, except where the law will not let us cap it at all.
- Seva and jugaad are not just words to us. You will see both show up below, with real examples of what they mean in practice.
1. Who you are booking with
In short: your contract is with Rooetd, not with each hotel, driver, guide or experience provider individually.
Rooetd is a trading name of Mauj Lo Roj Lo Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales.
When you book a Rooetd package, Mauj Lo Roj Lo Ltd is the organiser of that package and your contract is with us.
We work with hotels, transport providers, guides, destination management companies and other local partners in India to deliver the individual parts of your trip.
You will not normally have to negotiate separately with each of those suppliers if something goes wrong. Come to us first and we will work with our partners to sort it out. That single point of contact is deliberate: it is seva in practice, the effort of coordinating hotels, drivers, guides and ground partners sits with us, not you.
2. What you are buying
In short: Rooetd sells curated, land-only trips in India. Flights are normally booked separately by you.
Our packages may combine accommodation, ground transportation, trains, guides, cultural or heritage experiences, food experiences and other travel services into one itinerary and price.
Unless your booking expressly says otherwise, international flights to and from India are not included.
If a particular booking includes something different, your booking confirmation will tell you exactly what is included.
The precise services included in your trip will be set out in your itinerary, quotation and booking confirmation.
3. How a booking becomes a contract
In short: an enquiry is not a booking. Your booking becomes confirmed when we accept it and issue your booking confirmation.
You can enquire with us without committing to buy anything.
We may prepare a proposed itinerary and quotation based on your preferences. Until you accept the quotation and we confirm availability, this is simply a proposal.
When you decide to proceed, we will tell you:
- the total price;
- what is included;
- what is not included;
- the amount of the advance payment;
- when the remaining balance is due;
- the cancellation terms applying to your booking;
- the minimum number of travellers required for the trip to run, and the deadline by which we would tell you if it is not met, where that applies; and
- any specific conditions applying to particular services.
Your booking becomes confirmed when we accept it and issue your booking confirmation.
Once confirmed, these Booking Conditions, together with the information contained in your quotation, itinerary and booking confirmation, form the basis of your contract with us.
We will send you confirmation of your contract by email once your booking is confirmed, so you have a durable copy of exactly what you agreed to.
Because this is a package travel contract, the general 14-day cancellation right that applies to many everyday online purchases under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply here. Section 8 explains how cancellation actually works for your trip.
4. Your advance payment and balance
In short: you normally pay 25% upfront to secure your trip, with the balance due later. The advance is part-payment towards your trip, not a separate fee.
For standard individual and small-group trips, the advance is 25% of the total trip price.
For family and larger group arrangements, the same 25% advance normally applies unless we tell you otherwise before you book.
The remaining balance is normally due:
- 56 days before departure for standard individual and small-group bookings; and
- 84 days before departure for larger family or group arrangements.
Your booking confirmation will state the exact balance due date.
If you book within the applicable balance-payment period, we may require the full trip price at the time of booking.
Payment reminders
We do not want a holiday to be lost because someone simply forgot a payment deadline.
We will normally send you reminders before your balance is due, including a reminder shortly before the due date.
Those reminders are a courtesy and do not change the contractual payment deadline.
If payment remains outstanding after the due date, we will contact you and give you an opportunity to resolve it. If the balance remains unpaid, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you and apply the cancellation charges in section 8.
5. Prices and what they include
In short: the price you see is for the itinerary we have agreed with you. If you ask us to change it, the price may change too. Once your booking is confirmed, we do not increase it for our own cost reasons.
Your quotation will identify the services included in the price.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, prices do not include:
- international flights;
- travel insurance;
- visas;
- personal spending;
- meals or services specifically described as excluded;
- optional experiences you choose after booking; or
- costs arising from your personal circumstances.
We will tell you about any material additional cost before asking you to agree to it.
Price changes before booking
A quotation is based on the availability and supplier prices available when we prepare it.
Accommodation, transport and experiences can change in price or availability before a booking is confirmed.
We will not deliberately hide a price increase and surprise you later. If something changes before confirmation, we will tell you and give you the choice of accepting the revised arrangement or changing the itinerary.
Price changes after booking
Once your booking is confirmed, we do not increase the price. Some operators reserve the right to pass on fuel, tax or exchange-rate movements after you have booked, within limits the law sets for that. We have chosen not to use that right at all: the price on your booking confirmation is the price you pay. If we ever change that approach for future bookings, we will say so clearly, in writing, before you book, not after.
Changes you ask for
See section 9 for how changes to your itinerary work after your booking has been confirmed.
6. Large family and group bookings
In short: the bigger the booking, the earlier we sometimes have to commit to rooms, transport and other capacity. That is why larger bookings can have different payment and cancellation arrangements.
We do not define a "group" by an arbitrary number of travellers.
A booking may be treated as a larger family or group booking where, for example, you are asking us to arrange a substantial number of rooms, vehicles, seats or coordinated services at the same time. As a rough guide, this typically means around 10 or more rooms, vehicles or seats booked together for one trip. That is not a strict legal threshold, just the point at which our suppliers' own commitments genuinely start to bind.
Imagine that you ask us to secure 60 rooms at one resort for a family or community trip.
Those rooms may be taken out of general availability specifically for your group. If a large proportion of the group subsequently cancels, our supplier may no longer be able to sell those rooms to somebody else.
That creates a real cost which can flow from the hotel to our destination partner and ultimately to Rooetd.
This is why larger coordinated bookings may have:
- an earlier balance-payment date;
- an earlier cancellation threshold;
- specific supplier cancellation terms; or
- bespoke arrangements agreed with you before confirmation.
We will tell you about any special arrangements before you commit to the booking.
7. Bespoke services and supplier-specific terms
In short: most of your itinerary is flexible. A small number of services may not be.
Most Rooetd arrangements are designed to remain reasonably adaptable.
However, particular accommodation, heritage properties, bespoke venues, private events or other services may require us or our partners to commit money much earlier than normal.
For example, a particular heritage property may require a non-refundable commitment well in advance.
Where a particular service has materially different cancellation or payment terms, we will tell you before you book it.
We will not quietly introduce supplier-specific terms after you have committed.
8. Cancelling your booking
In short: we give you a generous window to change your mind. The cancellation charge increases as your departure gets closer because more of your trip becomes committed and harder to resell. Separately, you always have a free right to cancel if something serious and unavoidable happens at your destination.
Your cancellation must be made in writing, normally by email.
The cancellation date is the date on which we receive your written cancellation.
Standard individual and small-group bookings
Your balance is due 56 days before departure.
If you cancel:
| When we receive your cancellation | Cancellation charge | What you receive back |
|---|---|---|
| 50 days or more before departure | 0% | 100% of amounts paid |
| 43–49 days before departure | 25% | 75% |
| 36–42 days before departure | 50% | 50% |
| 31–35 days before departure | 75% | 25% |
| 30 days or fewer before departure | 100% | 0% |
The important bit
Because your balance is due at day 56 but the cancellation charge does not start until day 50, there is a short window where you have already paid in full but can still cancel for nothing.
So, for a £2,000 trip:
- cancel on day 60, before your balance is due: only your £500 advance has been paid so far, and you get all of it back;
- cancel on day 51, after your balance is due but still inside the 0% band: you have already paid the full £2,000, but the charge is still 0%, so you get the whole £2,000 back;
- cancel on day 49, into the 25% band: £500 is retained (25% of £2,000), and £1,500 is refunded;
- cancel on day 40: £1,000 is retained, £1,000 is refunded;
- cancel on day 33: £1,500 is retained, £500 is refunded;
- cancel on day 20: the full £2,000 is retained.
We will send reminders as your cancellation threshold and balance-payment dates approach. The reminders do not alter the dates themselves.
Family and larger group bookings
For larger family and group arrangements, the balance is normally due 84 days before departure.
If you cancel:
| When we receive your cancellation | Cancellation charge | What you receive back |
|---|---|---|
| 78 days or more before departure | 0% | 100% of amounts paid |
| 71–77 days before departure | 25% | 75% |
| 64–70 days before departure | 50% | 50% |
| 61–63 days before departure | 75% | 25% |
| 60 days or fewer before departure | 100% | 0% |
The same principle applies: the free-cancellation window runs from your balance-due date (84 days) down to 78 days, and the first day of the 25% band is day 77.
For very large or unusually bespoke group bookings, we may agree different supplier-specific cancellation terms with you before confirmation.
Cancelling for unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances
The tables above are about ordinary, personal reasons for cancelling. Separately, the law gives you a stronger right: if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occur at your destination, or its immediate vicinity, and significantly affect the performance of your package or the carriage of passengers to your destination, you may cancel before departure without paying any cancellation charge at all, and you are entitled to a full refund of everything you have paid us. You are not entitled to additional compensation in these circumstances.
For example: if a landslide closes the only road to a heritage property on your itinerary shortly before you are due to travel, and we cannot arrange a genuinely comparable alternative, that is the kind of situation this right is for.
This right applies regardless of what the tables above say, and we will not apply a cancellation charge where it genuinely applies.
9. If you need to change your trip instead of cancelling
In short: tell us what you want to change. We will try to make it work rather than automatically treating it as a cancellation.
This is one of the reasons we build Rooetd differently.
If you want to change:
- dates;
- accommodation;
- activities;
- transport;
- the pace of the itinerary;
- the number of people travelling; or
- another part of your trip,
contact us as soon as possible.
We will look at:
- whether the change is available;
- whether the supplier can accommodate it;
- whether the change affects other parts of the itinerary;
- whether there are additional supplier costs; and
- whether the price of the trip therefore needs to change.
This is jugaad at work: when a train is cancelled, a venue changes its hours, or a guide falls through three days out, we are looking for the next workable option, not reading you a policy.
Changes close to departure
We will continue to help you explore changes even close to departure, where reasonably possible.
That does not mean that every change can be made for free or at the original price.
For example, if you decide three days before departure that you want to replace a booked private experience with another experience that costs more or requires a different vehicle, we will tell you what is possible and what the additional cost would be before making the change.
If something becomes unavailable, we will offer the closest reasonable alternative available to us.
We do not promise unlimited free changes. We promise to try to find the best workable solution.
10. Changes we need to make to your itinerary
In short: travel is not always perfectly predictable. If something changes, we will tell you as soon as reasonably possible and try to preserve the experience you booked.
Sometimes a hotel, train, venue, guide, transport provider or other supplier changes something outside our control.
We may therefore need to make reasonable changes to your itinerary.
Where we know about a change in advance, we will tell you as soon as reasonably possible.
If a change occurs within 14 days of departure, we will communicate it as soon as we become aware of it and, where reasonably possible, provide the information before you travel.
If a change is significant, your statutory rights under the applicable package travel legislation will apply, including any rights to accept an alternative arrangement or cancel where the law provides for this.
We will not use this clause as a blank cheque to substitute whatever we want.
Our objective is simple: preserve the holiday you actually booked.
11. Supplier availability and itinerary flexibility
In short: your itinerary is a plan, not a prison.
India is a country where availability can move quickly.
A particular restaurant may close. A train schedule may change. A hotel may have an unexpected maintenance issue. A guide may become unavailable.
Where this happens, we may need to adjust the order, timing or particular provider while keeping the overall experience substantially consistent. That is the jugaad instinct again: the fix might not be the exact original plan, but it protects the experience you actually booked.
Where a replacement costs more because of something outside your control, we will not simply pass that increase to you where we are responsible for making the replacement.
Where you ask for a different or upgraded service, the additional cost may be yours.
12. Minimum participation
In short: some trips only work economically if enough people travel. If a minimum number is genuinely necessary, we will tell you before you book, and we will not cut it close if it does not work out.
Where a particular itinerary depends on a minimum number of travellers, that requirement will be stated in your booking information.
For example, if a private group experience requires at least 10 people to operate at the advertised price and only 6 ultimately confirm, we may need to propose a different arrangement.
Every Rooetd trip runs longer than 8 days, so the notice period that actually applies to a Rooetd booking is always the same one: if a stated minimum is not met, the law requires us to tell you at least 20 days before departure, and we will not cut it closer than that. (The law sets shorter minimum notice periods, 7 days and 48 hours, for much shorter trips than anything we currently sell; we are mentioning the 20-day figure because it is the one that will always apply to you, not because ours varies.)
We will not use "minimum participation" as an excuse to cancel a trip simply because we would prefer to sell something else.
If we genuinely cannot operate a trip because its stated minimum participation requirement has not been met, we will explain the position and provide the remedies required by applicable law.
13. Your responsibilities
In short: we organise the trip; you are responsible for being ready and able to travel.
You are responsible for:
- having a valid passport;
- obtaining any required visa or travel authorisation;
- checking applicable entry requirements;
- obtaining suitable travel insurance;
- following reasonable health and safety advice;
- arriving at agreed departure points on time;
- providing accurate information to us;
- telling us about relevant accessibility or dietary requirements; and
- complying with applicable local laws and instructions from guides and suppliers.
Our Travel Advice page contains practical guidance to help you prepare, but it does not replace official government, medical or legal advice.
14. Accessibility, dietary requirements and special requests
In short: tell us what you need early. We will do our best to build it into the trip rather than trying to fix it at the airport.
If you have accessibility requirements, dietary requirements, mobility considerations, medical-related practical requirements, religious requirements or another important request, tell us when you enquire or book.
We will discuss what can realistically be accommodated.
Some requirements may involve additional costs or may not be possible at every property or location. If so, we will tell you before you commit to the relevant arrangement wherever reasonably possible.
For dietary requirements in particular, please be specific. "Vegetarian" and "vegan", for example, can mean different things to different people.
We will pass relevant information to the suppliers who genuinely need it to deliver your trip.
Please also tell us if your requirements change after booking.
15. Travel insurance
In short: we strongly recommend travel insurance because our cancellation schedule cannot protect you from every personal reason for cancelling.
Travel insurance may cover circumstances such as:
- illness;
- certain family emergencies;
- cancellation for an insured reason;
- lost or stolen belongings;
- medical expenses abroad, including repatriation if you need to return home early for medical reasons;
- travel disruption; and
- other risks depending on the policy you purchase.
For example, if you become seriously ill shortly before departure and your insurance covers that circumstance, you may be able to recover cancellation costs through your insurer rather than asking Rooetd to absorb them.
Insurance policies differ.
We do not promise that an insurer will pay a particular claim.
Read the policy carefully, particularly its cancellation, medical, pre-existing-condition, excess and travel-disruption provisions.
We do not currently arrange or sell travel insurance as part of the Rooetd package.
16. Passports, visas and entry requirements
In short: we can point you in the right direction, but your passport and visa are ultimately your responsibility.
You should check current official requirements well before travelling.
For travel to India, check the latest UK government guidance and applicable Indian immigration requirements before departure.
Your inability to travel because you do not have the correct passport, visa or travel documentation will normally be treated as a cancellation by you.
Our Travel Advice page contains practical links to official sources.
17. If something goes wrong during your trip
In short: tell us while you are still there. Give us the opportunity to fix it while there is still time to fix it.
If something is wrong with your accommodation, transport, guide, experience or another part of the package, contact us or our local representative as soon as reasonably possible.
If something is bothering you on day one, please tell us on day one.
We would much rather have the chance to move rooms, change a vehicle, speak to a guide, rearrange an activity or otherwise fix the problem while you are in India than have you spend the next nine days frustrated and only tell us after you get home. That is the seva instinct in practice: showing up for you while you are still here to be shown up for, not just apologising afterwards.
You can complain after the trip, of course. But early notification gives us the best opportunity to put things right.
If the problem is serious or you need urgent assistance, contact us immediately using the emergency contact details provided with your final itinerary.
18. Assistance when you are in India
In short: our relationship with you does not suddenly disappear when the itinerary ends.
If you need reasonable practical help while you are travelling in India, you are welcome to contact us.
That includes situations such as:
- needing help understanding an itinerary change;
- being unsure who to contact locally;
- needing information about your next destination;
- experiencing an unexpected problem with an arranged service; or
- needing help understanding what your options are.
Once your booked package has finished, we are not responsible for independently arranged travel or services that fall outside your Rooetd booking.
But if you are still in India and think "I have no idea who to ask about this", ask us. That is seva too: the relationship does not end the moment your itinerary does.
If we can help, we will.
19. If we need to cancel your trip
In short: we do not want to cancel trips. If we ever have to, we will explain why and give you the rights and options required by law.
There are circumstances where we may be unable to operate a trip, including events outside our reasonable control or situations where a stated minimum participation requirement is not met.
If we cancel a package before departure, your statutory rights will apply.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include offering an alternative arrangement or providing a refund.
We will communicate with you as soon as reasonably possible and explain what happens next.
20. Events outside our reasonable control
In short: sometimes things happen that neither Rooetd nor our suppliers can reasonably prevent.
These can include events such as:
- natural disasters;
- serious weather events;
- war or terrorism;
- civil unrest;
- government restrictions;
- significant transport disruption;
- public-health emergencies; or
- other events that make performance impossible or materially affect the trip.
Where something like this happens, we will focus first on your safety and then on finding a practical solution.
Your statutory rights under applicable package travel law will continue to apply.
We will not label an ordinary supplier problem as an "act of God" simply to avoid responsibility.
21. Supplier refunds and recoveries
In short: when a supplier owes money back because a service has been cancelled or not performed, we will pursue the amount properly owed to you, and the law is increasingly on our side when we do.
Our supplier contracts, and increasingly the law itself, determine what we can recover from hotels, transport providers, guides and other partners when something they were meant to deliver does not happen.
From 6 April 2027, amendments to the Package Travel Regulations give us, as organiser, a statutory right of redress against a supplier whose failure caused us to owe you a refund or compensation, and require that supplier to refund us within 14 days of the failure. That is a legal mechanism working in the background to protect our cash flow, and indirectly yours. It does not change what you are owed or when; it changes how reliably we can recover it from the partner responsible.
Where we are entitled to recover money from a supplier on your behalf, we will pursue that recovery, using whichever contractual or statutory tools are available to us at the time.
22. If we can resell your cancelled trip
In short: if someone else takes your place, we will try to make that benefit you.
If you cancel and we are able to resell the same or substantially the same arrangements to another traveller, we may be able to recover some or all of the costs that would otherwise have been lost.
Where that results in money becoming recoverable for you, we will take that into account when calculating any refund properly due.
We cannot guarantee a resale.
It depends on whether another traveller wants the same dates, services and arrangements, and whether our suppliers can accommodate the change.
But we will try.
That is the jugaad part of Rooetd: where there is a legitimate way to solve a problem, we will look for it.
23. Our responsibility for your package
In short: you book the package with Rooetd, so we are responsible for performing the travel services making up that package as required by applicable law, within a cap that protects both you and a business our size.
Our suppliers actually deliver many of those services, but that does not mean you are expected to chase each supplier yourself. If something forming part of your package is not performed as agreed, we will work with you and our suppliers to find an appropriate solution, including a price reduction or compensation where the law entitles you to one.
Where we are liable to pay you compensation, our liability is capped at three times the total price of your package. That is the minimum limit the Package Travel Regulations allow us to set, and we have set it at exactly that minimum, not lower. The cap does not apply to death or personal injury, to loss caused by our or our suppliers' deliberate or negligent conduct where the law will not allow it to be capped, or to a service governed by an international travel convention (for example, carriage by air, sea or rail) that sets its own limit. In those cases, the relevant uncapped or convention limit applies instead.
Nothing in these Booking Conditions removes rights that you have under mandatory consumer or package travel law.
24. Your statutory rights
In short: these conditions sit alongside your legal rights. They do not take those rights away.
You have rights under applicable UK consumer and package travel legislation.
Where the law gives you a right that cannot legally be excluded or reduced by contract, these Booking Conditions do not attempt to do so.
If there is a conflict between these conditions and a mandatory legal right, the mandatory legal right applies.
25. Financial protection
In short: Rooetd is a land-only package organiser. The financial protection applicable to your booking will be clearly identified before we take your money.
Rooetd does not sell flight-inclusive packages and does not provide ATOL protection for flights booked separately by you.
Where a Rooetd itinerary constitutes a package under the applicable package travel legislation, the relevant insolvency protection requirements apply to us as organiser.
We will not enable customer payments for package bookings until the required financial-protection arrangements are in place.
Once those arrangements are confirmed, this section and our separate How Your Booking Is Protected page will identify the applicable protection clearly.
We will not name a protection provider, bond, trust, insurance arrangement or certificate until it has actually been put in place.
26. Complaints
In short: tell us first. Most problems are easier to solve when we know about them.
If something goes wrong during your trip, please tell us immediately through the contact details in your final itinerary.
We will try to resolve the issue while you are travelling.
If you are not satisfied after returning home, send your complaint to hello@rooetd.com.
Please include:
- your booking reference;
- the dates of travel;
- what happened;
- when you reported it to us or our local partner;
- what response you received; and
- what outcome you are seeking.
We will investigate the complaint and respond within a reasonable period.
We encourage you to give us the opportunity to resolve complaints directly before escalating them elsewhere.
Arbitration
If we cannot resolve things directly between us, you may refer the dispute to arbitration before a single, independent arbitrator, seated in London, England, and conducted under the Arbitration Act 1996. If we cannot agree between us on who that arbitrator should be, either of us can ask the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators to appoint one. Arbitration is an option, not a precondition: you are never required to use it before bringing a claim in the courts (section 33), and nothing in this process limits any statutory rights or remedies available to you. Once we have been accepted onto a recognised travel ADR scheme, we will name it here too, as a further route that is often free to use.
27. Transfers and changes of traveller
In short: if you can no longer travel, tell us. In some circumstances another person may be able to take your place.
Package travel law may give you the right to transfer your booking to another person who satisfies the conditions applicable to the trip.
Where a transfer is legally permitted, we may require reasonable evidence and may pass on reasonable costs arising from the transfer.
We will explain those costs before processing the change.
Some supplier arrangements may make a transfer more complicated, particularly close to departure.
28. Children and family travel
In short: family trips are designed around real families, but the adult making the booking remains responsible for the children travelling with them.
The person making the booking must have the authority to book for the travellers included in it.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for children travelling with them unless expressly agreed otherwise.
You should also check any passport, visa, consent-to-travel and vaccination requirements applicable to children before departure.
Our Travel Advice page contains further practical guidance.
29. Travel advice
In short: we want you to travel informed, not anxious.
Our Travel Advice page contains practical information about travelling in India, including:
- passports and visas;
- weather;
- health and vaccinations;
- family travel;
- local customs;
- money and connectivity;
- transport;
- emergency contacts; and
- government travel advice.
It is practical guidance rather than a contractual promise and does not replace official medical, legal or government advice.
Because travel information changes, you should check the relevant official sources again before departure.
30. Data and communications
In short: we use your information to organise your trip and communicate with you about it.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information.
Our Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies operate on our website.
Both form part of the information you should read before booking.
31. No third-party rights, with one deliberate exception
In short: this contract is between you and us. The one exception is the other travellers named on your booking, because the law gives them rights too.
These Booking Conditions are between you, as the person who made the booking, and Rooetd. Generally, nobody else can enforce any part of them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
The exception: where you book on behalf of other named travellers, applicable package travel law gives each of them rights as a traveller under the package, not just you as the person who paid. Nothing in these Booking Conditions is intended to exclude or reduce those individual statutory rights, and we will honour them for every named traveller on your booking, not only the lead booker.
32. If part of these conditions cannot be enforced
In short: if one sentence turns out to be legally ineffective, the rest of the agreement continues.
If a court or competent authority determines that any provision of these Booking Conditions is invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as modified or removed to the minimum extent necessary.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
33. Governing law and jurisdiction
In short: these conditions are governed by the law applicable in England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
These Booking Conditions and your contract with Rooetd are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may instead choose to have the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland apply.
Nothing in this clause deprives you of any mandatory consumer rights or protections that apply to you under the law.

A final note from us
You are not buying a spreadsheet from us.
You are trusting us with a holiday, often with your family, your parents, your children, or people you have been planning to travel with for years.
Things will occasionally go wrong. India is India. Suppliers are human. Trains get delayed. Weather happens. Plans change.
Our job is not to pretend that none of that happens.
Our job is to tell you what is happening, give you your options, and help sort it out.
That is what these Booking Conditions are here to do.
The Rooetd promise
We have deliberately written these conditions in plain English.
You are not just a booking reference to us. You are trusting us with a fairly significant amount of money and, more importantly, with your time.
Our job is therefore not just to tell you what happens when everything goes perfectly.
It is to be clear about what happens when something does not.
Seva and jugaad describe the spirit behind everything above: doing the responsible thing, telling you what is actually possible, and looking for a sensible solution where one exists.
They are not extra promises beyond what this document already says. They are why it says what it does.
